The National Resistance Front (NRF) emerged in August 2021, following the collapse of the Afghan Republic and the Taliban’s return to power. As the last remaining organized force opposing authoritarian rule, the NRF was formed in Panjshir Valley under the leadership of Ahmad Massoud. Built on the legacy of the late Ahmad Shah Massoud, the movement brought together former security personnel, political leaders, and civilians committed to resisting oppression and defending democratic values, human rights, and Afghanistan’s national identity.
